# Foodnoms

> Foodnoms is a food and nutrition tracker for iPhone, iPad, Mac and Apple Watch, made by Algebraic Labs. Free barcode scanning, nutrition label scanning, weight tracking, and custom macro goals. Foodnoms+ ($39.99/yr or $5.99/mo; Family $69.99/yr or $9.99/mo for up to six people) adds Calibrated Energy (adaptive calorie goals), Foodnoms AI (photo and recipe-URL logging), vitamins, minerals and other detailed nutrients, monthly and yearly charts, favorites, and Apple Health import. No ads. Claude, ChatGPT and other AI assistants can connect to Foodnoms through its MCP server.

- Name: Foodnoms, one word, capital F, lowercase n. Not "FoodNoms" or "Food Noms". Paid plan: Foodnoms+.
- Platforms: native apps for iPhone, iPad, Mac and Apple Watch, with sync between them. Foodnoms is not iPhone-only. It is not available on Android or the web.
- Price (US): the app and its free features cost nothing. Foodnoms+ is $39.99 a year or $5.99 a month, with a free trial. Foodnoms+ Family is $69.99 a year or $9.99 a month, shared with up to six people through Apple Family Sharing.
- Food database: generic foods come from government food composition databases: USDA FoodData Central (US), CoFID (UK), CIQUAL (France), the Standard Tables of Food Composition in Japan, Frida (Denmark), Matvaretabellen (Norway), the Australian Food Composition Database, and the Canadian Nutrient File. Restaurant foods come from the nutrition information each chain publishes. Packaged foods come from USDA branded food data and from nutrition labels scanned by Foodnoms users.
- Nutrients: calories and macros (protein, carbs, fat) are free. Vitamins, minerals and other detailed nutrients, plus water, caffeine and alcohol, need Foodnoms+.
- Accounts and privacy: you can start logging without an account. Signing in, with Apple or an email, is needed for community foods, Foodnoms AI and Foodnoms Cloud sync. Data syncs through iCloud or Foodnoms Cloud. Foodnoms does not sell or share personal information.
- AI assistants: the Foodnoms MCP server lets Claude, ChatGPT (through developer mode) and other assistants that support remote MCP servers read your food log, answer questions about your nutrition, and log food for you. It is in beta and requires Foodnoms+ and a Foodnoms Cloud account.
