Do I need an account? What happens to my data?

You can start using Foodnoms without an account. Food logging, goals, and weight tracking all work without one.

What signing in adds

• Community foods in search and barcode results

• Foodnoms AI

• Foodnoms Cloud sync, if you choose it

• Foodnoms MCP, for connecting AI assistants (requires Foodnoms+)

Community foods and Foodnoms AI run on our servers, and every request costs money to serve. Signing in lets us stop automated abuse, so the shared food database and Foodnoms AI stay fast and affordable for everyone.

Signing in privately

Sign in with Apple lets you hide your email address. Apple gives us a random relay address that forwards to your inbox, and you choose what name to share. You can also sign in with an email address and password.

Where your data lives

Your food log is stored on your device. If you turn on iCloud sync, it syncs through your own iCloud account. Your log is stored on our servers only if you choose Foodnoms Cloud sync.

Some features send data to our servers when you use them. A Foodnoms AI request sends what you ask about, and it is processed by an AI model provider on our behalf. Submitting a food to the database sends that food. The app also sends usage and diagnostic data, which helps us find bugs and improve features.

What we don't do

• We don't sell your data.

• We don't share it with advertisers. Foodnoms has no ads.

• We don't track you across other companies' apps and websites.

You stay in control

• Delete your account at any time from the app's account settings.

• Before you do, you can download a copy of your data or export your log as a CSV file.

About the App Store privacy label

The App Store label lists every type of data Foodnoms could handle across all of its features, including optional ones like Foodnoms Cloud sync and Foodnoms AI. It says "linked to you" because data from those features is tied to your account when you use them. The label does not list any data used to track you.
