How do I use Foodnoms with Claude and other AI apps?
Foodnoms MCP connects your Foodnoms food log to AI apps like Claude, so you can log food and ask about what you have been eating. Anything you log syncs to your devices just like an entry made in the app.
It uses the Model Context Protocol, an open standard for connecting apps to AI assistants. There is no API key to set up.

Before you start
You need:
A Foodnoms+ subscription. You can connect without one, but every request will ask you to upgrade instead of returning data. See what is included with Foodnoms+.
A Foodnoms Cloud account. Foodnoms MCP reads your food log from Foodnoms Cloud. If you sync through iCloud instead, you can still connect, but the AI app will see an empty food log. To check, go to Settings → Data & Integrations → Foodnoms Cloud in the Foodnoms app.
An AI app that supports MCP, such as Claude.
What you can do with it
"What did I eat today?"
"Log a bowl of oatmeal with blueberries for breakfast."
"Log my usual morning coffee."
"Copy yesterday's lunch to today."
"Am I on track for my calorie goal today?"
"What were my biggest sources of sodium last week?"
"I weighed 172 pounds this morning."
"My usual" works because Foodnoms MCP can see what you logged before, including the portion.
Connecting Foodnoms
The Foodnoms server address is:
Claude
On claude.ai or in the Claude desktop app, go to Settings, then Connectors.
Choose Add custom connector and paste in the address above.
Sign in with Apple using the same Apple Account you use for Foodnoms, or with your Foodnoms Cloud email and password.
Review what you are granting, then choose Approve.
Start a new chat and try asking "what did I eat today?"
Connectors follow your Claude account, so once you have added Foodnoms on the web it is there in the mobile app too.
Other MCP apps
Foodnoms works with any app that supports remote MCP servers, including Codex. Find where the app lets you add a remote MCP server and give it the address above, and it will send you to the Foodnoms sign-in page. If an app asks for an API key, look for the option to add a server by URL instead.
What it can and cannot do
It can read your food log, nutrition totals, goal progress, saved foods, recipes and meals, and your weight, height, age, and sex. It can search for foods to log. It can add, edit, and delete food entries, and record your weight.
It cannot:
Create or change your custom foods, recipes, or saved meals
Change your goals or Body Profile
Touch your subscription, account, or settings
See anyone's data but your own
Worth knowing:
Foodnoms keeps one weight entry per day, so logging a weight replaces the existing one.
Entries imported from Apple Health cannot be copied to another day.
Deleting an entry is permanent once it syncs.
Privacy
It only sees your own data. Access is tied to the account you signed in with, and enforced by the database rather than by the AI app.
Foodnoms does not keep your conversations. The server handles each request and stores nothing about it.
What you ask about is sent to the AI app you connected. Ask Claude about your food log and that data goes to Claude, under Anthropic's privacy policy rather than ours.
Turning access off. Removing the Foodnoms connector in your AI app stops it from reaching your data. Foodnoms does not yet have a page to revoke a connection you already approved. Email support@foodnoms.com if you need that.
Troubleshooting
It connected, but my food log looks empty.
Check Settings → Data & Integrations → Foodnoms Cloud in the Foodnoms app. If you sync through iCloud, there is nothing in Foodnoms Cloud to read.
Every request tells me to upgrade.
Foodnoms MCP requires Foodnoms+. Make sure the Foodnoms Cloud account you signed in with is the one your subscription is attached to.
My AI app will not add the connector.
Check the address is exactly https://cloud.foodnoms.com/functions/v1/mcp. Confirm the app supports remote MCP servers, not just local ones.
I signed in with the wrong account.
Remove the connector and add it again, then choose Use a different account on the Foodnoms sign-in screen.
It has the connector but never uses it.
Try being explicit, for example "using Foodnoms, what did I eat yesterday?"
