Weight Tracking, Calibrated Energy, and a Native Mac App

Summary

For over five years, Foodnoms has been intently focused on making it easy for people to track what they eat, so they can reach their goals: losing weight, gaining weight, or maintaining a healthy lifestyle. Version 2026.8 completes the loop. With weight tracking and a unified Body Profile, Foodnoms can now learn from your progress and adjust your targets to match, through a new feature called Calibrated Energy. The Mac app has also been rebuilt from the ground up to be fully native, and brought up to speed with the iOS version.

  1. Weight Tracking. Log body weight and chart it by week, month, or year, with a moving average that surfaces the underlying trend rather than daily fluctuation. Syncs bidirectionally with Apple Health. The most-requested feature in the app's history.

  2. Calibrated Energy. Analyzes logged intake against actual weight trends, back-calculates apparent energy expenditure, and proposes adjusted targets. Every change requires approval, and an Ease In option shifts goals gradually.

  3. Body Profile. Height, weight, activity level, sex, and date of birth consolidated into one place instead of configured inside calorie goal settings. Updates automatically as weight is logged in Foodnoms or Apple Health.

  4. Flexible Macro Goals. Macros set as percentage splits, absolute grams, or grams per pound of body weight. In advanced mode, pin specific macros (protein at 1 g/lb, for example) and Foodnoms calculates the remainder automatically.

  5. A Natively Rebuilt Mac App. Rewritten from the ground up and now truly native, replacing the previous Catalyst version. Logging at a desk is fast and convenient, and months of history fit on screen at once. Included for existing subscribers as a universal purchase.

  6. Clearer Goal Setup. Every goal now defines what success means: staying around a target, staying under it, or meeting a minimum. An optional tolerance lets a successful day land within a range rather than on an exact number.

Why This Update Matters

I've spent six years on a single problem: making it fast and easy to accurately track what you eat.

Weight tracking has been the most-requested feature for years, and I'm glad to finally make it available. But I didn't want to ship it as a siloed feature without using the data to help you reach your goals faster.

That's what Calibrated Energy does. It compares what you logged against how your weight actually moved, then updates your goal to match. Instead of an estimate you set once and hope is right, your goal adapts as you go, so you can trust the number you're working toward.

The Mac app has also been rebuilt from scratch, bringing it up to speed with the iOS version. Logging at a desk with a bigger screen and a real keyboard is fast and convenient, and your data syncs securely through iCloud or Foodnoms Cloud. It embraces the Mac while intentionally sharing a visual language with the iPhone app.
